SAGA is a histone acetyltransferase complex that cotranscriptionally performs histone modifications and is implicated in the regulation of gene expression at the level of changes in chromatin structure. SAGA is also involved in mRNP biogenesis and export. In this review, we examined the contribution of SAGA and its subunits to development. We also discuss the diseases associated with impaired activity of SAGA subunits.

SAGA complex, deubiquitination module, Gcn5, mRNA export factors, ENY2/Sus1, Sgf11, SCA7, spinocerebellar ataxia type 7, xeroderma pigmentosum, myotonic dystrophy 1, osteogenesis imperfecta, diabetes mellitus type 2, breast cancer, NER
